The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) has announced the finalists for this year's Spencer Penrose Award which goes to the Men's Ice Hockey University Division Coach of the Year. The finalists are comprised of the top vote-getters in conference Coach of the Year balloting.
This award was captured last year by Joe Marsh of St. Lawrence University, a finalist once again this year.The Spencer Penrose Award is named atter the former Colorado Springs benefactor whose generosity built the Broadmoor Hotel and Broadmoor World Arena, host site of the first ten NCAA Hockey Championships. This year's award falls on the 50th anniversary of the first award which was presented in 1951. The winner will be announced in early April and the award will be presented during the annual AHCA Convention in Naples, FL, on Saturday, April 28.
