NCAA SEMIFINALISTS DOMINATE 2000-2001 JOFA/AHCA UNIVERSITY DIVISION ICE HOCKEY ALL-AMERICANS

Six athletes who are competing for the first NCAA championship in women's ice hockey this weekend account for half of this year's JOFA Women's University Division Ice Hockey First Team All-Americans announced today by the America Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA). Harvard University, the tournament's #3 seed, boasts two first team selections, including junior forward Jennifer Botterill, who garnered her third consecutive First Team honor. Top seed Dartmouth is represented by junior defenseman Correne Bredin on the First Team and #2 seed Minnesota-Duluth claims sophomore forward Maria Rooth. The other semifinalist, St. Lawrence University, placed two freshmen on the Second Team, goalie Rachel Barrie and defenseman Isabelle Chartrand.

The Jofa All-Americans are chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association. Of the 12 players earning Women's University Division All-American status this year, four are seniors, three are juniors, two are sophomores and three are freshmen. Eight different schools are represented on the two squads.
