Emily Quizon, a senior forward for Middlebury College and a three-time All-American, has been chosen by the nation’s coaches as the 2006 Women’s College Division Hockey Player of the Year. Through 26 games this season, Quizon has compiled 19 goals and 19 assists for 38 points. Her career totals are 62-107-169 in 110 games.

Said Middlebury head coach Bill Mandigo, “Emily has had an outstanding hockey career at Middlebury and I consider her to be one of the most dynamic players in all of women’s college hockey. Her speed, quickness, and ability to see the ice are second to none.” Quizon was a Second Team All-American in 2004 and a First Team choice both last year and this year. She has twice been chosen Player of the Year in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

“Quizon has also been very involved in many community projects,” added Coach Mandigo. “She has been a major contributor to the Foundation For Excellent Schools, a program that goes into schools throughout the state of Vermont to mentor and talk to students about correct choices. She has also been a volunteer in the Bristol, Vermont, elementary school, helping young children with reading and arithmetic.” An American Civilization major from Chino Hills, California, Quizon was a finalist for this award in 2005. She will finish her career this weekend the NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Frozen Four at SUNY Plattsburgh.

The runner-up for this award was Andrea Peterson, JR D, Gustavus Adolphus College. The other finalists for this year’s award: Jenn Clarke, SR F, SUNY Plattsburgh; Erin Kegley, JR F, UW-Superior; Cindy Lebel, SO D, Saint Anselm; and Tanaya Reitz, SR F, St. Thomas.
