Eleven coaches who have enjoyed on-ice success in 2005-06 have been named finalists for the Edward
Jeremiah Award, given annually to the College Division (NCAA Division III) Men’s Ice Hockey Coach of the
Year. Named in honor of the former Dartmouth head coach, the Jeremiah Award will be presented at the American
Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Coach of the Year Banquet on Saturday, April 29, in Naples, FL.
Heading the list of finalists are 2006 Jeremiah Award winner and MIAC Coach of the Year Terry Skrypek of
the University of St. Thomas and three-time winner Bill Beaney of Middlebury, as are his NCAA opponents this
weekend, Tim Ceglarski of tournament host Elmira College; Tim Coghlin of St. Norbert College; and Mark
Taylor of Hobart College.
Other finalists represent winners of conference Coach of the Year honors. They are: Nick Carriere, Buffalo
State (SUNYAC); Bill Kangas, Williams College and Jim Tortorella, Colby College (NESCAC); Mark Ostapina,
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MCHA); Jamie Rice, Babson College (ECAC East); John Rolli, UMass-
Dartmouth (ECAC Northeast).
Mark Taylor of Hobart College (ECAC West) and Tim Coghlin of St. Norbert College (NCHA) are both
NCAA semifinalists and conference Coach of the Year winners.
Voting will take place after this weekend’s NCAA Men’s Division III Frozen Four in Elmira, NY.
