Five players whose seasons extended to the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship in St. Louis, MO, this weekend have been honored as RBK ALL-AMERICANS for 2006-07. Leading the way is North Dakota, with two West First Team Selections and one on the Second Team. Boston College and the University of Maine each claim one honoree. The only NCAA semifinalist not represented is Michigan State University.
Noteworthy among the selections:
•
No players repeated as First Team selections from 2006. Scott Parse of Nebraska-Omaha, a First-Team choice last year, was named to the Second Team.
•
Michigan’s T.J. Hensick was a First Team choice in 2005 and returns to that position in 2007.
•
Five honorees were Second Team choices last year: BU goalie John Curry, Quinnipiac defenseman Reid Cashman, BC forward Brian Boyle, Maine forward Michel Leveille, and St. Cloud goalie Bobby Goepfert. All but Goepfert move up to the First Team this year.
•
Eleven of the 24 selections are seniors; six are juniors and seven are sophomores.
•
The honorees hail from six states and five Canadian provinces. The leading source is Michigan with five native sons.
The RBK ALL-AMERICAN ICE HOCKEY TEAMS are sponsored by RBK HOCKEY, an international leader in hockey equipment, and chosen by members of the AMERICAN HOCKEY COACHES ASSOCIATION.
