The 2008 MEN’S COMMISSIONERS’ CUP champion, the WCHA, finished its 10-game Cup slate on Saturday evening when the Tigers of Colorado College had an easy time dismissing Clarkson University (ECAC), 6-1. The WCHA finishes its Commissioners’ Cup schedule with an impressive 8-1-1 record.
Here’s a look at Saturday night’s game.
Colorado College 6, Clarkson 1 (at Colorado Springs, CO): Scoring five goals on their first 14 shots, the host Tigers took a commanding 5-0 lead by the 11:10 mark of the middle period, driving the Knights’ standout goalie David Leggio out of the contest. The teams traded goals in the third for the final score of 6-1. Mike Testwuide had two goals for Colorado College.
One game remains in the series and that will take place on February 16 when Niagara (CHA) visits RIT (Atlantic). Should Niagara win or tie, the CHA will take sole possesion of second place in the standings — the CHA is currently tied with Hockey East. An RIT win will lift the Atlantic Hockey Association out of the cellar and into fifth place ahead of the defending
