Nine coaches who have enjoyed on-ice success in 2007-08 have been named finalists for the Edward Jeremiah Award, given annually to the College Division (NCAA Division III) Men’s Ice Hockey Coach of the Year. Named in honor of the former Dartmouth head coach, the Jeremiah Award will be presented at the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Coach of the Year Banquet on Saturday, April 26, in Naples, FL.
Heading the list of finalists is three-time Jeremiah Award winner Mike McShane of Norwich University (ECAC East Coach of the Year), a participant in this weekend's NCAA Frozen Four at Lake Placid, NY. His NCAA opponents this weekend, Tim Ceglarski of Elmira College (ECAC West Coach of the Year), Tim Coghlin of St. Norbert College (NCHA Coach of the Year) and Bob Emery of Plattsburgh State, are also finalists.
Other finalists represent winners of conference Coach of the Year honors. They are: Scott Bell, Hamline (MIAC Coach of the Year); Steve Hoar, Becker College (ECAC Northeast Coach of the Year); Aaron Saul, Potsdam (SUNYAC Coach of the Year); Jim Tortorella, Colby (NESCAC Coach of the Year); and Jasen Wise, Marian (MCHA Coach of the Year).
