Fourteen Division I hockey-playing schools can celebrate players honored as RBK ALL-AMERICANS for the 2007-08 season. The nation's top 24 college hockey players were announced tonight at the NCAA Men's Division I Frozen Four in Denver, CO. Leading the way were the University of New Hampshire with four selections and Colorado College with three. Noteworthy among the selections:
• Only one player has been so honored before. Junior defenseman Matt Gilroy of Boston University, a First Team choice this year, was named to the Second Team in 2007.
• There are 18 players from the United States and six from Canada.
• The honorees are experienced. Twelve of the 24 selections are seniors and 10 are juniors. There is one sophomore and one freshman.
• The honorees hail from ten states and three Canadian provinces. The leading source is Michigan with four native sons.
• Obscure Fact #1: there is a "T.J." on the West First Team for the second straight year. Last year it was T.J. Hensick of Michigan; this year, T.J. Oshie of North Dakota.
• Obscure Fact #2: there are two "Chads" on the West Second Team, the first All-American Chads since Michigan State goalie Chad Alban was a First Team choice in 1998.
The RBK ALL-AMERICAN ICE HOCKEY TEAMS are sponsored by RBK HOCKEY, an international leader in hockey equipment, and chosen by members of the AMERICAN HOCKEY COACHES ASSOCIATION.
