BOSTON, MA — Six players competing for an NCAA Division I Women’s Ice Hockey Championship in Boston, MA, this weekend have been honored as RBK HOCKEY ALL-AMERICANS for 2008-09, it was announced today by the American Hockey Coaches Association. Included among the12 honorees are representatives of all four Frozen Four squads participating at Boston University's agganis Arena. They are Hilwary Knight and Jessie Vetter of Wisconsin, Meghan Agosta of Mercyhurst, Melanie Gagnon and Monique Lamoureux of Minnesota and Jocelyne Larocque of minnesota-Duluth.
Noteworthy among the selections:
• Seven players come from the United States (Only two in 2008.) Five come from Canada.
• Two players, Harvard's Sarah Vaillancourt and Mercyhurst's Meghan Agosta, are repeat First Team choices. For Agosta, it is her third consecutive First Team selection.
• There were four seniors chosen, three juniors, and four sophomores and one "First Year" player.
• Five selections came from the WCHA, three each from the ECAC and Hockey East, and one from the CHA. The RBK ALL-AMERICAN ICE HOCKEY TEAMS are sponsored by RBK HOCKEY, an international leader in hockey equipment, and chosen by members of the AMERICAN HOCKEY COACHES ASSOCIATION.
