| Edward Jeremiah Award Winner To Be Recognized From Four Candidates
The nation's college ice hockey coaches have identified the four men whose efforts this season rose above the pack. They are the finalists for the College Division (Division III) Coach of the Year Award. They are: Bob Emery of Plattsburgh State; Mike McShane of Norwich University; Steve Nelson of Wisconsin-Superior; and Terry Skrypek of the University of St Thomas. All four coaches advanced to the NCAA semifinals, with McShane and Norwich emerging as champions.
A primary ballot was sent to all Division III head coaches with the names of the top two vote-getters in each Division III conference's Coach of the Year balloting, along with any coach who took his team to the NCAA Division III finals.
From that preliminary vote comes the top two vote-getters in the East and the top two vote-getters in the West for the finalists presented here. The voting takes place under the auspices of the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).
The winner, who will be announced at the NCAA Frozen Four in Providence, RI next week, will receive the Edward Jeremiah Award at the annual AHCA Coach of the Year Banquet, to be held this year on Saturday evening, April 29, at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club. The award is named in honor of the former Dartmouth College coach who influenced the game through his coaching and his writing.
