TEAM USA ROSTER RELEASED FOR BORDERLINE BATTLE: THE NORTH AMERICAN COLLEGE HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Twenty seniors from 18 institutions make up the Team USA roster released today for the April 10-11 series with Team Canada's senior counterparts. The North American College Hockey Championships enter their third year with a couple of changes. First, the event is now a two-game series played in two countries. Second, Olympia Entertainment and the Joe Louis Arena, have stepped up to take a leading role in presenting Game One at "The Joe" on April 10.

The roster is a "Who's Who" among the college hockey playing elite, even with the restriction that only seniors can play. The staff and team have been assembled under the auspices of the American Hockey Coaches Association. Four roster slots were made available to each of the following conferences: the CCHA, the ECAC, Hockey East, and the WCHA. In addition, there will be two players representing Division III programs, one from the East and one from the West. Finally, there are two "At-Large" spots.

Representing the nation's top ranked teams are North Dakota's Jason Blake, New Hampshire's Jason Krog, Michigan State's Mike York, and Maine's Steve Kariya. York and Michigan's Bubba Berenzweig have been chosen as captains for the game. Colorado College and Princeton are the only schools with two representatives.

The games are slated for Saturday, April 10 at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit (7:00 p.m.) and Sunday, April 11, at the new Air Canada Centre in Toronto (4:00 p.m.). For ticket information, call TicketMaster at (248) 645-6666 or the Joe Louis Arena Box Office at (313) 396-7575.
